We always try to bring great speakers down to the club meeting. We contacted a legend from New England Sherwood Lincoln to speak about Striped Bass fishing but unforgettably he was unable to make the trip down. He was gracious enough however to donate to the February raffle a signed copy of his book. titled “Striperman” – Confessions and Secrets of a Commercial Pinhooker”, was written and published by a renowned New England Striper fisherman, Sherwood Lincoln. I’m sure you are thinking just what we need, another Striper how to book to go along with the tomes of the rehash already written. Let me assure you this is not your father’s average striped bass book.

Sherwood has stepped out of the box to bring us an all new look on how to bring the cows home with all new stories and techniques never seen in print. While Sherwood has not sold any bass for over 2 ½ decades he never stopped his relentless pursuit of the biggest ones. He even releases 99% of his bass

today. His addiction to catching jumbo Stripers morphed into a job in the 70’s & 80’s. The location for his choice of occupation is in what he likes to call the Striper rectangle; from Eastern L.I. Sound to Watch Hill to Block Island over to Montauk and back; arguably the best Striper fishing in the USA. His almost 50 years of targeting mostly over sized Stripers has taught him many tricks, and secrets to which most were kept secret for years…until now… In his book he shares them with his audience.

If you’re new to Striper fishing this book will open your eyes, and if you’re an old hand, this book will teach you a few new tricks, maybe quite a few. There are many “Pro-Tips” throughout the book. The interesting stories of his life and adventures which give insight into how a perfectly sane 30 year old man with a family can quit his job, buy a boat and take up a rod & reel to make a living. Sherwood will be the first to tell you it was not easy but big Stripers was his compulsion!

The book is available on Amazon and in many of the better tackle stores.
